IVFC Celebrates 30 Years with Community Appreciation Day

Community members gathered at IVFC on May 16, 2026, for Community Appreciation Day, celebrating 30 years of serving the Illinois Valley.

The Illinois Valley Family Coalition celebrated 30 years of serving the Illinois Valley with a Community Appreciation Day and open house at our Cave Junction community center on May 16.

Community members, families, volunteers, staff, and partner organizations came together for an afternoon of free food, live music, children’s activities, and an opportunity to explore the building and learn more about the programs and resources available here in the Illinois Valley.

The day was as much about appreciating our community as it was about celebrating IVFC. For 30 years, our work has depended on neighbors helping neighbors, volunteers giving their time, local organizations working together, and community members continuing to show up for one another.

Visitors had the chance to meet several of the organizations that share space and work alongside IVFC, including Healthy U, Art and Science Kids, ODHS Self Sufficiency, Four Way Community Foundation, and Butterfly Wellness LCSW. The event offered a glimpse of what we hope our building can continue to be: a welcoming place where people can connect not only with services and resources, but with each other.

There was plenty of fun mixed in as well. The Ant Hill band provided live music and great energy throughout the afternoon, while Trillium Bakery provided food for the community. Children and families enjoyed activities around the building, and guests were encouraged to explore programs and meet the people behind them.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make the day possible — our partner organizations, staff, board members, volunteers, local businesses and supporters, and everyone who stopped by to spend part of their Saturday with us.

Thank you for helping us celebrate 30 years in the Illinois Valley. We’re proud of what this community has built together and excited about where we go from here.
